In the first blog post, I defined feminism as the a movement that aims to end sexism and achieve gender justice. Feminist media studies, on the other hand, analyzes and critiques the representation of underprivileged groups in the media, such as women, people of color, and LGBT people.

This definition, moving forward in this class, has not changed, it has only evolved our understanding of feminism and how it branched out to not only end patriarchal injustices, but also overthrow the capitalist, imperialist, and racist system. In fact, This is where the notion of intersectionality in feminism, coined by Crenshaw in1989, illustrates how feminism is about liberating all underprivileged groups in society, such as people of color, women, LGBT people, lower class people. Feminism has branched out to reach political economy as well, which studies the intersection of political economy and the media and how its practice and theory are gendered.

As one can conclude from the elaborations made above, feminism is intertwined with every aspect of our personal, social, and political life. Therefore, moving on with my career, I will be implementing feminist theories and practices during my day to day work life. In fact, as a future communication professional, I will create media content that challenges patriarchal discourses and notions. In addition, if I ever own my own media firm, I will make sure to implement very strict codes against gender-based harassments, and gender, race, and disabilities-based biases and oppressions.
